At its heart, a business is a group of people, and making sure our team is happy is a key mission at North South Wines. Every year, we conduct a staff satisfaction survey, listen to the feedback and use it to make North South Wines the best possible place to work.

Here are some headline stats from this year’s survey:

(all scores are based on responses of “agree” or “strongly agree,” with neutral responses excluded)

This year, we received a great set of overall results and identified a few areas for improvement.

Scores for questions related to career progression, training, and feedback ranged between 70% and 75%. Feedback also highlighted the need to improve lines of communication between different teams. Additionally, we observed a decline in the score for people feeling low stress at work, while pay emerged as a key concern in light of the cost-of-living crisis.

In response to this feedback, we enhanced our review process to place greater emphasis on long-term career goals and training. We introduced monthly all-company team meetings, where different departments provide updates, and all employees are encouraged to contribute and raise discussion points. We also trained six team members as Mental Health First Aiders to help identify and support anyone struggling with their mental health. Finally, we were pleased to offer everyone a percentage pay increase to help with the cost-of-living crisis. Our annual survey also provides an opportunity to analyse the diversity of our workforce. We use it to identify trends within different groups and inform our Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) strategy, which is currently in development with a view to implementation in 2025. Creating an inclusive workplace for a diverse range of people and actively working to improve the diversity of the industry are key priorities moving forward.
